This is a poem about love
Do you believe me?
I'm telling you, it's love
Why don't you believe me?
You mean just because I say it, doesn't make it true?

This is a poem about trust
Do you believe me?
I'm telling you, it's trust
Why don't you believe me?
I know I said it was about love before, but now it’s about trust

This is a poem about manipulation
Do you believe me?
I'm telling you, it's manipulation
Why do you believe me?
I never said this is a poem about gaslighting

This is a poem about trusting yourself
Do you believe you?
Tell yourself: “I trust myself”
Why don't you believe you?
Because the only thing you trust is that you will be manipulated

This is a poem about loving yourself
Do you believe you?
Tell yourself: “I love myself”
Why don't you believe you?
Because it’s hard to love yourself when you’ve been told you’re hard to love

This is a poem about healing – but really
It’s whatever you need it to be
Tell yourself the exact words you need to hear and
Believe in yourself – why?
Because you are worthy
of trust, of love, of healing.

Because this is a poem
for you.
